A Complete Value Chain Of Services

Every link in our service offerings is important-if one is missing, then the others won’t have as much impact. ISAP provides all of these services together, enabling farmers and rural communities to significantly increase their income and build paths to prosperity.

Sustainable Agriculture through Tech Intervention

ISAP applies scientific research and new technical knowledge to agricultural practices for farmer education in improved productivity and translation of the new knowledge into innovative practices in the fields. Activities include risk management and livelihood diversification.

Our Approach

  • Needs Assessment: A baseline survey is carried out to find out the community’s needs, current practices, key pain points and opportunity areas.
  • Technology Mapping: Innovative and workable technologies are identified to address the pain points of the target community with the key objective of enhancing livelihoods.
  • Project Design: An appropriate project design is created and executed to roll out the desired technologies and ensure adoption by farmers.

Institution Building

ISAP builds strong intuitions to build local capacity, establish centres of learning and provide strength in numbers. These intuitions consist of both Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) and Agribusiness Village Resource Centres (AVRCs). ISAP mobilises groups of farmers into FPOs to improve production, productivity and profitability. AVRCs are managed by trained FPOs and offer value add services to farmers. Sections are also given over to community development and cater for women’s centres, healthcare facilities and children recreation.

Our Approach

  • Cluster Identification: A high potential geographic cluster with strong leadership is identified in the target region through a baseline survey.
  • Value Proposition: A supply chain study is carried out to identify the value proposition in the identified cluster.
  • Institution development: Farmers are mobilized, trained, organized into groups and educated on value proposition. Groups are federated into producer organizations under the available legal options
  • Infrastructure support: The desired infrastructure facility is created for the producer organization to carrying out business activities within the provision of the project or through convergence with different government schemes.
  • Credit linkages: Producer Organizations are assisted in securing financial support from various financial institutes or through grants/schemes.

Skill Development & Placement Programs

Farmers, women and youth receive market-relevant training in modern agricultural techniques as well as non-farm vocational training. The empowerment of women is given special focus and complementary skills around agency and civic rights awareness are integrated into vocational training curricula. Post training – ISAP works with employer placements and currently places more than 70% of trainees into jobs.

Our Approach

  • Skill Needs: Key skill domains are identified for the target region and target community through an industry survey.
  • Imparting Skills: Aspirants are mobilized and receive trainings on domains of their interest.
  • Job Placement: Job opportunities are found with local and national employers and trainees are assisted in winning placements.

Market Facilitation

ISAP promotes and strengthens FPOs by addressing the challenges of access to investment, technology and quality inputs to prepare farmers for new market linkages. In parallel, ISAP works with its affiliate partners to create business relationships with agri-buyers. Complimenting this is the training of farmers around market fluctuations, crop diversification and value added products.

Our Approach

  • Marketing and Branding: FPOs are given marketing and branding services including packaging services to create a marketable identity for their produce.
  • Retail Connections: Relationships to major retailers are developed and FPOs are connected directly to them to open new and profitable markets.
  • Processing Infrastructure: FPOs are aided in accessing primary processing infrastructure in order to help them rise in the product value chain and demand better prices for their produce.

Natural Resource Management

Agriculture can’t be practised without reference to the natural resources that support it. With water becoming an increasingly valuable commodity, farmers require support in harvesting of water and frugal usage for irrigation. Communities are also supported in the creation and maintenance of clean drinking water. Renewable energy projects (biogas & solar) round up ISAPs work in supportive infrastructure.

Our Approach

  • Community Needs: Community needs are assessed and potential interventions are planned with the aim of increasing access to clean energy and water for improving life and livelihoods in rural areas.
  • Project Design: Projects are designed around interventions pertaining to watershed management, renewable energy, water conservation and others where required.
